    Description

    Purchased Dec 29, 2005, in Palau on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, from the artist.  This is signed with the initials M.U.D.

    "The Magic Breadfruit Tree"
    Hand-Made Three Dimensional One-Piece Wood Carving.
    Approximately 36" Wide (if it were flat) x 10" Tall.  See photos with the tape measurer to help you see the sizing.
    Vintage pre-owned item.
    It has the written story of the breadfruit tree on the back.  The story is depicted on the front by following the series of carved pictures.
    This is a lovely piece, which I have enjoyed on display for almost 16 years, but am down-sizing.
    Storyboards were introduced into Palau by a Japanese artist during the Japanese occupation of Palau and adapted by the islanders to record their own traditions. The stories that are told on the Palau storyboards are usually old Palauan legends or alternatively legends from different islands especially Yap, Federated States of Micronesia.
