From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this
Very Rare c1940 Spear Products DONALD DUCK “QUACK IN THE BOX” TOY.
This very early Jack-in-the-Box is a wooden box covered Donald Duck pattern paper and has a metal button on the front. When the button is pressed, the lid flips open on its metal hinges and a spring loaded Donald Duck figure pops up.
The box measures 5" high x 4 3/8" wide and deep. Donald stands approximately 9" tall and looks like he's had a wee bit too much to drink since he's leaning over. This is in good played with condition with its release mechanism working fine but one of the hinges disconnected, a small part of the wood top missing and general toning on the paper covering and some torn paper on the inside of the cover.
Donald's body is in excellent condition with only a few nicks to the paint on the surface and some minor soiling on his clothing.
