Scrap Pewter sold in 5 lbs lots - Ingots - Reloading - Casting - CraftsNot all ingots are shaped like those in the pics - I've gone back and mixed older lots to ensure all is consistent and poured into larger casts
Expect this white metal to melt at higher temps than 400 deg. Harder pewter type alloys
""See my other pewter scrap listing (Fine Scrap Pewter) for low temp pewter if that is what your looking for. Melted down with a hot pot."" (sells out fast - when
available
)
Please note I work hard at making a quality recycled product. I would not recommend mixing the 5 pound lot with other pewters.
Not all metals types used in pewter melt at the same temp, some do not mix well with others.
Pewter is an alloy (mixture of different metal) heating, mixing ect. can alter the alloy composition.
The pewter is all from different sources from Trophy's, Lamps, to picture Frames.
I have noted when mixing different pewter compositions the melt gets lumpy or gritty so
I heat up at an incline and drain the tin out.(update I now just stick in furnace and remove the dross making into 5 pound lots)( If not enough to make 5 pounds its remelted into the next batch)
Im working hard to improve my product for the best quality.
Its best to not mix pewters to save yourself from making needless waist when possible (Remember different compositions have different melting temperatures, tin can only hold so much copper as example to much and it hardens out at the lower tin melting point, leaving texture lumpy.
Keep in mind pewter is an alloy, tin is the main ingredient but may contain lead, silver, zinc, bismuth, copper or antimony.
I cannot test the exact make up of the pewter.
