    Description

Offering two items that I was told are Pacific Islands weapons or display weapon art.
One is a 36.5" long fully carved tip to tail, length of wood called a Fiji Spade Head club. After some discussion with an appraiser we think this was a display piece as it is much larger than a war club would be and in spite of all the ornate carving it is undamaged. The carving is truly beautiful and there isn't an inch of
    undecorated
space. There is a plaited grass rope around the end to hang it with.
The other piece I have no consensus on as to it's origin. It is older and appears to be used. It is clearly some sort of spear with a hand sharpened nail point like tip and cut brass bands encircling the length of a fire hardened piece of wood. The hand end is capped with a hammered piece of brass with an engraved cross like design. It is 37.5" in length. No breakage anywhere but the metal is tarnished and the cap end has some dents.
I am listing these two pieces together because they came out of my great aunt's storage and were packed together in the same box. So, you know maybe they're friends.
